City of Miracles (ADULT)

City of Miracles is an action packed, edge of your seat kind of book, and one of the author’s best so far.  I loved every minute of it, even though it took me a while to read.  I have not read them in order since I found out about the books by seeing the ads for City of Miracles and thought it sounded good and read it than found out there where others and they actually came first, and while each can actually be read on its own, some of the characters might make more sense if read in order, or it could be just my own quirk of reading books in order.  Anyways this was an awesome book that should not be missed by anyone who loves book vengeance.  I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review."

High Alert (ADULT AUDIO)

When a madman plans to sends to United States into a nuclear war by sinking one of its subs and laying blame on another country it is The Project that sees through it, and is tasked with going after the real madman and stopping him before he causes other countries to launch their nukes, but will Nick and the team make it in time?
This is another non stop action, suspense filled, twist around every corner book by Alex Lukeman.  I love his story lines and the characters, especially as they have become friends, and I fell instantly in love with the newest member of the team, Freddy, he is awesome.  If you are lucky enough to get the hear the audiobooks of these wonderful books than you are in for a real treat with voice actor Jack de Golia lending his voice to the many characters and making each and everyone different, individual, and with their own little swagger to them as well, it is a production not to be missed.

Shift of Shadow and Soul (YA)

Long ago the Restless King banned all magic in the kingdom, but now with the Generals first son, Syashin, and a girl from the isle, named Corentine who both have been born with shifter magic, is it time for the people to rise and take back their kingdom from the ruthless King or should they wait and join their magic for a powerful next generation?
This book is so full of suspense, twists and turns, and action all the way until the last page and leave you searching for more in  the  following book as soon as you can get it.  The characters are awesome and you will find yourself right in the middle of the action along with them as they travel, fight and learn about each other and themselves as move toward their final destination.  This is one of those books that once you get started it hooks you and you will stay up way past you bedtime to see what happens to Coren, Sy, and more as they go through their adventures.

Orphan Monster Spy (YA)

This is the story of little Sarah, the Jew that wasn't a Jew, who became a orphan,  than a spy, but along the way a monster.  If you like this era of books than you will like this one.  At some points you will shake your head and say no way that happened but then you will remember all the things of that era and then you will tell yourself, maybe it could have.  This book is fill with action  and suspense like you would think it should be but there are also twists and turns that you don't see coming, and you'll be like what???  If you like Elizabeth Wein books you will adore this one as well, it is a historical fiction not to be missed if you like this time period.

The Heart Forger (YA)

A bone witch like Tea can take a life and return it but they can not kill that which is already dead, and the game she is playing for revenge  one whether she knows it or not, because there is always one stronger or more knowledgeable.
This is a great sequel to the first book The Bone Witch, action packed and even more twists and turns that will through you for more loops, and surprises.  Each subsequent book brings us closer to the true Tea and what brought her to this point in her life, and I can't wait to be able to put all the pieces together at once.

Time Bomb (YA)

Seven Teens stuck in a high school after a bomb goes off must work together to get out before the rest of the hidden bombs go off and entomb them, but one is responsible for the bombs, they don't know this yet, but what will happen when the do?
This breakfast club of teens stuck together and must help each other in order to get out alive.  I found the book very interesting and a fast read but some of the premise behind the bombing I just couldn't find believable.  The kids I am around if it doesn't benefit them directly they wouldn't go out of their way or be bothered by it.  So I find that for a teen to bomb their school for their father a little unrealistic, especially without his knowledge.  But the book is filled with lots of actions and suspense so it is a pretty good read, and if anything it shows diversity and helps with understanding of several groups you might not otherwise have access too, we always #needdiversebooks.

The Kid Sensation Series 1-3 (MG AUDIO)

This is a wonderful audiobook series narrated by Mikael Naramore, who does great voices for all of the characters in the Kid Sensation series and really brings that whole world alive for the listeners.   Kevin Hardman's Kid Sensation series is a wonderful, action packed, suspenseful, full of surprises series that is awesome for middle graders and young adults, or anyone that likes superhero stories.  The main character Jim, has it all, smarts, all kinds of super powers, but he is a teenager and thing don't always turn out the way he plans, sometimes that is good sometimes that is bad, it is a learning process even  for superheroes.

Final Day Hours 1-6 (ADULT AUDIO)

It was a normal day for most everyone until the sirens went off, and then everything changed for almost everyone.  Some died, some got sick, some hid, and well some like Michael we still are not sure what happened to Michael, but we are trying to figure it out.
This book or audio which ever you prefer takes you through the first six hours of this final day.  There is a lot of action, a lot, and suspense, yep there is that as well.  However, you come to be part of Michael's family and care for him and want to see him cured and that it the end of this book hope.  Writer and narrator Salzman weaves a great tale that will lead us on until we see the end because it is that good.

Body Count: Gabriel Vol III (ADULT AUDIO)

Everything was finally right for Gabriel, until those few seconds that changed everything, everything for so many because of one stupid decision.  One that will need to be repaid.
This was a exciting book so much action and of course you are always rooting for Gabriel and his friends, and the suspense, sometimes I think I could have used a knife on it.  This is a wonderful book and if you are lucky enough to have the audio narrated by Mr. Salzman than you are really in for a treat as he seems to transform you right into the story where you can watch it all happen right up front, Mr. Salzman and Mr. Evans make a awesome team and I am glad they have teamed up in this series, it make for a great experience for us the reader/listener.

The Wishmakers (MG)

Twelve year old Ace's life changes in a instant the day he makes himself a PB &J sandwich for lunch but doesn't read the warning on  the lid, but who reads the lid of their peanut butter?  Now he is stuck with a genie, Ridge, who will grant him unlimited wishes for a week, sounds nice huh?  But there is a catch, there is always a catch.  Ace, must accept consequences for each wish, and he must save the world during this week of unlimited wishes.
This was such a fun and exciting book, quick to read and funny with a lot of quirky predicaments and non stop action, but it was a great story of friendship, understanding and diversity, and if you give the book a full read you will see it too.

Nexus (YA)

This was a awesome book and the fact I got to read it the week before Mardi Gras made it that much cooler.  Our friends are back in the last of the Zeroes Trilogy books, and the heat has not let up yet. The action is non stop, and the suspense has not slowed up in the least. We do meet a whole bunch of new Zeroes in New Orleans, as they prepare for Fat Tuesday, and one of the big Mardi Gras day parades.  But our friends are split on whether to help this new bunch or not, and what the new bunch of Zeroes true intentions are and how they fit in with our friends way of thinking.  Only time and reading the book will tell, along with a few really cool side stories you won't want to miss, maybe new series spin offs series???

Granted (MG)

Have you ever wished upon a star, a birthday candle, a coin thrown into a fountain, or a on a wishbone broken?  Did it come true?  Did you follow the rules?  Oh yes my friend there are rules to wish making, first and foremost is you can't tell anyone your wish, but there are others as you will find out later in the book, and granters (fairies that grant wishes) have to know them all, and  Ophelia Delphinium Fidgets, a young fairy granter does know them all and everything there is to know about granting a wish.  You see Ophelia has been waiting about a year for her first assignment, her very first wish granting.  But when it comes not everything quite goes as planned, and granting a wish is a bit harder than just throwing some fairy dust on something and saying some magic words.
This is another awesome book by author John David Anderson about diversity and friendship despite hardship and differences.  I love how he can bring the eclectic of characters together and have it all workout in the end.  Don't get me wrong there are sad and funny parts mixed in but things seem to work there way out even when they look bleak at times, and that is nice.  Sam had to be  my favorite character and wanted to take him home myself from the beginning, but I am glad I didn't, thank you Mr. Anderson from me for Sam.  This was a great book and I hope it answers a lot of wishes, I hope it answers mine.

City of the Dead (ADULT AUDIO)

In this second book of Brian Keene's famed zombie world we find Frankie, Martin and Jim still making their  toward Danny, Jim's son, and hoping he is still alive and not a zombie and the rest of the group held up in a skyscraper in Manhattan, built and owned by eccentric billionaire, but will it hold against these zombies?
This was a fast paced, suspenseful, non stop action book, with wonderful characters.  I had the audio narrated by a very  talented Joe Hempel, who makes you feel as if you are there in the midst of all of the turmoil with these people fighting along side them, helping them.  It is so much fun to listen to it with all the different voices, so if you get a chance to listen to it  you should, but this book was awesome either way.

The Cup: The Project, Book 13 (ADULT AUDIO)

The team is back and due to the death of a Swedish spy they are on the prowl for the holy grail.  But so is ISIS and it is said that if the grail falls into wrong hands it will bring about the end of days, so the race is on.
This might be book thirteen but Mr. Lukeman has not let up yet, this one has just as much action and suspense as the first book, the characters are awesome and believable.  The audio narrated by Jack de Golia is wonderful, and not to be missed, he has a voice for each character and he can draw you into the story like you are one of the team right there with them helping with assignment.  I can't wait to get the next audio these are so good.

Broken Worlds: Book One of the Alorian Wars (ADULT AUDIO)

When Anki, a Luthian Marine, and Brindle, a Greshian Ensign, worlds collide things in their worlds become very confusing from what they have grown up being told.  But can they change things and   will they save their people?
This is a wonderful military science fiction book/audio.  This is a highly entertaining book, I had the audio version with voice actor Rebecca Sternberg, who does a awesome job bringing this world alive for the listener and making you feel as though you are there and part of the crew family.  I really enjoyed this as a audio and can not wait for more.

Environmentally Friendly (ADULT)

This a novella so there is only so much I can say without giving it away, but I will say it is action packed and was so much fun to read.  It is worth the time and hopefully the author will use this short as a stepping stone for a full length book later so there can be more detail and more fill in the blanks.  But even with that said you will still like this if you like this kind of suspenseful military/police action type book.

Zenith (YA)

Androma, riding her awesome spaceship around doing odd jobs and acting like a space pirate all the time hiding from her own people,  until the one job she runs into the one person that should be impossible to run into, because he is dead, she killed him herself, is he a ghost? She will not go back to her people no matter what will she?
This was a action packed, non stop suspense, all round wonderful book.  Even though most of the main characters are girls there is plenty of fighting and blood from the Bloody Baroness to make any guy happy.  This is a great diverse book for all and it had me all the beginning and now I just can not wait for the next to see what happens next.

Corey and Kyra are best friend Corey helps keep Kyra grounded and Kyra helps Corey see the world.  But the people of their small town of Lost Creek Alaska doesn't understand Kyra and her bipolar disease and they are afraid of her  sometimes.  So when Corey has to move away they promise to see each other in a few months over winter break, so they just need to wait until then, just wait.  But just before Corey's visit Kyra dies, when Corey goes back for the funeral things are different very different.
This is a wonderful diverse book, also very suspenseful and has action as well.  This book is exciting as well as haunting at times.  It is a book you won't want to miss, so don't let it go.  You will  always be  rooting for Corey to help tell Kyra's story.

Supergifted (MG)

Donovan is stuck between a rock and hard place.  He did something pretty cool but can’t tell anyone or he will get into trouble, but his friend, genius nerd, Noah was there and decides he will say he did it so people will stop looking for the superkid that saved head cheerleader Megan’s house.  But when Noah lets all the superkid go to his head what can Donovan to do?
This is a really awesome book on so many different levels about friendship, cliques, and acceptance.  It is a book that is good for all kids in the middle grade age group, as there is a wide range of kids in the book there is bound to be one to pretty much fit anyone reading the book.  This book brings a lot to the table from bullying to the pressures that kids put on themselves to perform at the top grade wise and athletically, and these are just middle scholars (I was not thinking of what college I wanted into in the 7th grade, not seriously at least).  I really enjoyed this book and hope everyone gets the chance to read or listen to it at some point, whether you are a Noah, Donovan, Megan, Hashtag or someone else in the book hopefully you see yourself and can figure out what you might change to be a better friend or to help someone become a better friend.

Potion Master: The Eternity Elixir (MG)

Twelve year old Gordy might be the best elixirist ever when he grows up, but first he needs to save his world from the enemies of B.R.E.W. (Board of Ruling Elixirist Worldwide) or at least hold them off until his Mom gets home.
This was a really good book full of non stop action, lots of suspense, and of course plenty of potion magic.  I am sure there will be many references made between Harry Potter and this book but if you ask me, I don't see it, apples and oranges.  I guess you could make a case for anything but I think this is different and refreshing.  It's eclectic list of characters, including Doll, will make this a hit for boys and girls of a wide age range and especially reluctant readers.  This is a really good book and I can't wait to see what happens next!
